Our pelvic health physiotherapy sessions are designed to support real women through pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and pelvic floor concerns. We provide a safe, judgement-free space where you’ll feel heard and empowered to take charge of your health and reconnect with your body.
At Empower Her Physiotherapy, we’re here to support women through all stages of life with personalised pelvic health care. Our goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel comfortable opening up about your concerns and confident that you’re in the right hands.
We believe education is one of our most powerful tools. By helping you understand what’s happening in your body, we work to break the stigma around pelvic health and empower you to take charge of your health and well-being.
Our Approach
-
No referral needed. Just book online or give us a call — we’re happy to answer any questions and help you feel at ease.
-
We always start by asking a lot of questions about your concerns, goals and pelvic health. These questions may include questions about your bladder, bowel and sexual function as these all make up very important functions of your pelvic floor.
These questions may seem personal however the information you share with us will always remain confidential and will only be shared with your health team if you consent to it.
We assure you there is nothing we haven’t heard before and nothing that is TMI.
-
We then move on to the physical assessment. This will generally include a look at your posture, movement and range of motion. Again this will build onto our understanding of what may be contributing to your concerns.
We also have access to a Real Time Ultrasound Machine that can assist us in assessing your pelvic floor movement externally
We may conduct an internal vaginal examination. During this assessment we are looking for the pelvic floor strength, tone, any pain and assessing for prolapse.
We will always gain informed consent before beginning any assessment and know that consent can be withdrawn at any time throughout the consult.
-
Once we have put together all the pieces of the puzzle from talking to assessing we will then educate you about your concerns, why they may be occurring and what your management and treatment options are.
We will work with you to build an evidence-based collaborative plan to get you on the road to better pelvic health.

Yes we have on the spot claiming with Tyro, just bring your card along to your appointment

Pregnancy can be one of the best times to get your pelvic floor assessed.
We recommend booking a Pelvic Floor Initial Appointment at any stage during your pregnancy if you are starting to have any concerns including leakage, constipation or heaviness.
If you do not have any concerns then we recommend coming in for an assessment around 20 weeks.
Here we can assess your pelvic floor function and provide you with a personalised pelvic floor exercise program.
We will also ensure you know HOW to perform a correct pelvic floor muscle contraction.
We also recommend booking in around 35 weeks. At this stage we start doing Birth Preparation. This appointment includes:
Pelvic Floor Assessment
Assessment of lower back, pelvis and hips
Teaching you how to perform perineal massage
Education about positioning for labour and delivery
Education about reducing risks
Education about post natal recovery
Birth Prep Package including resources for education, exercises and checklists

Not at all. We support women at all stages — pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.

We’ll always explain the process, gain your consent, and make sure you feel comfortable. There are also external assessment options.
-
From around 6 weeks post-birth (or earlier if you have concerns — just reach out).
-
Not always! Every plan is based on what your pelvic floor needs.
